LA Boxing kicks way into San Jose

LA Boxing Franchise Corp. will make its Silicon Valley debut in the fall.

The Santa Ana-based company that operates more than 60 boxing, kickboxing and mixed martial arts gyms in 23 states will open five locations in Santa Clara County over the next 18 months.

A West San Jose facility will be the first. Matt Taylor, vice president of Terranomics Retail Services , represented LA Boxing in a 10-year lease agreement for more than 4,200 square feet of space at the West Park Plaza, which is located at the corner of Payne Avenue and Winchester Boulevard in San Jose.

After the San Jose gym opens, others will follow in Cupertino, Sunnyvale, Milpitas and Palo Alto. Average size of the gyms are 4,000 to 5,000 square feet.

Asking monthly lease rates in West Park Plaza are $2.50 per square foot, according to local brokers.

“The (Silicon Valley) market mirrors
the demographics we see in some of our most successful territories and exceeds our minimum requirements for gyms in terms of local income level, population density, age and activity levels,” said Philip Jacobs, LA Boxing’s director of franchise development.
