CPS Broker Brian McClenahan Heading to Australia for Rugby Matches

July 15, 2008 -- Los Altos resident and CPS CORFAC International Senior Sales Associate Brian McClenahan has been invited to play with the elite Sydney University Rugby Football Club (SU), the oldest rugby union club in Australia, as they complete their season in pursuit of the New South Whales Rugby Union Grand Final.

The former All American (2005) from the University of California at Berkeley was recruited this week to help SU (a club unaffiliated with Australian College Sports) bolster its lineup in advance of the upcoming Grand Final playoffs. Last year, the amateur rugby club won the “Grand Final” in its league. With seven regular season matches remaining, Sydney University needs additional support in the Hooker position, according to McClenahan. Never mind that he played the Prop position in college, when Cal won the national championship in three of the four years he played on the team.

“I’m going to learn a new position, have some fun and hopefully help the club out,” said McClenahan. “I might even manage to close a deal or two while I’m down there.”

The Sydney connection belongs to Australian Paul Limbrey, assistant coach/director of the Olympic Club ( San Francisco) rugby team, where McClenahan is a regular player. The Olympic Club team just returned from the U.S. National Championship in Glendale, CO, where they captured third place for the second consecutive year. With the big annual tournament behind them, Coach Limbrey figured he could loan one of his players to his mates in Sydney.

In addition to his successes on the rugby pitch, Brian is an up-and coming agent with CPS CORFAC International, a full service commercial real estate company founded in 1977 and headquartered in Santa Clara, CA.  Since joining CPS in 2005, Brian has participated in the lease or sale of over 1.3 million square feet of office and R&D properties in the greater Silicon Valley.
